This summer, the Yunlin OWF project team has proactively utilized every available weather window to make progress on the installation activities.
With the incoming Northeast monsoon, this year's project activities are coming to an end. Adhering to the strict operational procedures and fostering cooperation among all partners, the installation teams have reached a level of 45 monopile foundations, 26 inner array grid and 12 export cables, as well as 34 wind turbine generators in 2023. These results demonstrate our commitment to Taiwan’s clean energy transition and underscore our project management capabilities once again.
After months of preparation, including 2 expeditions offshore accompanied by front line EPCI team, the project culminates with the 1st documentary film! This film briefly chronicles the behind-the-scenes efforts of the project team against nature challenges and collaborate to build 8MW wind turbines stand in Taiwan Strait. “All Taiwanese members, including members working here and the whole supply chain members, have learned tons of experience,” shared Jason Wang, Deputy Head of EPC Management APAC. Faced with the unique challenges posed by the Taiwan Strait, particularly concerning seabed conditions in combination with frequent earthquakes and typhoons, as well as strong currents, all work packages have paid extra attention and maintained close alignment with contractors. Despite numerous challenges during the installation, they will nourish and contribute to Taiwan’s energy transition.
The preparations for the final installation campaign in 2024 are well advanced. The project team will keep working tirelessly to overcome obstacles and find ways to successfully complete this project.
